The Parts of Lindsey is a traditional subdivision of Lincolnshire, England, located in the north of the county. The subdivision had long been a separate county administration for Quarter Sessions (or courts held quarterly in the year), as did the other two parts, Holland and Kesteven. The Isle of Axholme, located on the west side of the River Trent, has normally formed part of it. Lindsey evolved from the Kingdom of Lindsey of Anglo-Saxon times, whose territories were merged with that of Stamford to form Lincolnshire. Lindsey ceased to be an administrative county in 1974 when the southern section was merged into Lincolnshire and the north into Humberside. All divisions of Lindsey are listed in WeRelate as Contained Places in Lincolnshire. For more information, see the EN Wikipedia article Lindsey, Lincolnshire. which lists the districts which made up Lindsey and the division of this area between Lincolnshire and Humberside which occurred in 1974.
