Mary Gobby was baptised on 7th November 1847 at Toddington in Bedfordshire, daughter of a straw plaiter named Mary Ann Gobby formerly Buckingham and her husband Joseph Gobby, an agricultural labourer.

Mary appears in the 1851 census living with her parents, siblings and cousins at Parsons End in Toddington. However, she died later that year, aged 4, and was buried at Toddington on 7th December 1851.
