Morrow DNA Other Results
Additional results in the DNA project either don’t fall into groups at all, only match expected lines, or with loose matches suggesting a common ancestor too long ago to be reasonably actionable.
Loose Groups
- Group 10 - Ireland/Pennsylvania. This group matches each other generally before 1600, but there are also numerous Murray matches. Information on most has not been shared with the DNA project, so information is thinner than most groups.
- Thomas Morrow (~1760-1840), b. Ireland, died Armstrong Co, PA. m. Susanna Foster.
- Elijah Morrow b. 1828 KY, m. Jacintha Raymond in Utica, Clark Co, IN in 1847. Two other contemporary Morrow men married in Clark County at the same time.
- Henry of Fermanaugh, Ireland b. 1760 -> Robert d. Broughton Vale, NSW 1887.
- William of Ireland > William John > William James (places/dates unknown)
- Group 11 - Wm Ohio Matches are 35/37, so could be a common ancestor anytime between 1250 and 1850.
- William Morrow immigrated from Ireland to Chester Co, PA to Stark Co, Ohio, d. 1852, m. Nancy Macwaters (multiple matches)
- Hiram Morrow b. c1794, also lived in Chester Co, PA and died Stark Co, KY, but no documents in common with William.
- John Morrow b. 1845 in County Armagh Ireland, m. Elizabeth Byrne.
- Group 12 - R-FT270380 Match of 35/37, same broad range as above.
- Henry Morrow 1801-1868 Ohio & Mary McKeen
- Edward Murray (1698-1737) of Dumphries, Scotland; line immigrated to Canada before 1825.
Confirming Matches
These sets of matches confirm paper lines and are limited to 2-4 participants, so have not been broken into their own groups.
- Henry Franklin Morrow, son of Bethany Womble Morrow: two descendants match each other, but do not match descendants of Bethany's other Morrow sons.
- Jesse W. Morrow (1802-1888 GA): Descendants of two sons match (but do not match other lines from nearby in Georgia. Jesse is believed to be the son of Robert Morrow m. Ann Hurley, but more tests would be useful.
- Robert Morrow d. 1855 Blair, PA, m. Margaret Moore: Descendants of two sons match. Robert d. 1855 is in turn the son of Robert d. 1810, who immigrated from Ireland to Pennsylvania.
- James Morrow of Lancaster, SC m. Susannah Watson: Three sons of James match each other, and match another descendant of David Morrow m. Martha Brashears, confirming ties suggested by the latter couple's estate records.
- John Morrow (abt. 1764 - bef. 1815) of Onondago, NY m. Mary Johnson: three lines descended from, at least, John's sons John and James have tested. Wikitree link (No WR profile yet.)
- Thomas William 1763-1833 m. Elizabeth Vaughn, d. Hopkinsville, KY. Three descendants of son Thomas and one from another son all match closely.
Unmatched Lines
These lines are notable because they do not match any of the groups otherwise noted, in some cases busting long-theorized relationships. In each case, however, there is only one participant on the line, so additional tests are needed to confirm that the result is not an outlier result based on a non-paternity event.
- Jack Benjamin Morrow m. Molly Davis in 1882 in Etowah Co, AL, origins unknown.
- Hugh Morrah d. Abbeville, South Carolina in 1837, leaving five sons who variously used Morrrah and Morrow.
- George W. Morrow m. Lucy Brennan abt 1871, of Coffee Co, AL. George was likely the illegitimate son of his mother Louisa, based on the fact that he does not match the DNA of the Morrow men with whom they are living in 1860 (presumably her brother (Group 7) and his family).
- Albert Morrow b. 1848 Rutherford Co, NC m. Rachel Price (not related to the Group 2 Rutherford Co Morrows; closest matches are Burgess)
- Lewis Morrow b. 1803 OH, d. ~1885 Indiana, m. Sarah Roberts.
- William Macmillan Morrow (~1800-<1850) m. Malinda Bishop. Thought to be the son of John Morrow m. Mary Sutton, but that's Group 1.
