Morrow DNA Group 8 (Mystery R-M269)

• List of Participants

This group consists of three families traced to the R-M269 haplogroup who have very little else in common.

• James Morrow b. 1740 in what is now West Virginia, and d. 1812 in Clark Co, KY. He married Elizabeth Frame in 1772 and had 11 children. Two descendants of his son William have tested. (This result demonstrates that James is not related to the Virginia Morrow family (aka Group 1). The common ancestor of this man and the other two groups is dated about 1750, so it may be quite close in time to James.
• James Morrow b. early 1790s in Ireland, first appeared potentially in Abbeville Co, SC around 1810 before returning to Ireland. Married and returned in 1828, settling in Hall Co, GA. Wife was Lavinia McVernon. The common ancestor between this man and Martin, below, is dated to about 1800, suggesting they are relatively closely related.
• Martin Morrow ~1800-1873, of County Down, Ireland. His wife was Sarah Bennett, and their son John immigrated to New Zealand where he died in 1911.

To be clear, it's unremarkable to have haplogroup M269--it's the most common haplotype in Europe and shared by over 75 members of the Morrow DNA project. it's used here merely as a group moniker.
