Two descendants of Henry Franklin joined the DNA project, and while their DNA matches each other, it does not match those of a descendant of Allen, Henry’s brother and known son of Thomas and Bethany. Allen’s descendant’s DNA matches that of a descendant of John T. Morrow, whose migration pattern in the 1850s matches Thomas’s.

Henry did grow up in Thomas and Bethany’s household, but the lack of DNA match was not a great surprise. Henry was born in Sept. 1865. Thomas was fighting with the 60th Alabama Infantry from late June 1864 to April 1865. The unit was defending Atlanta, Petersburg and Richmond at the time, and it is unlikely (and the records do not indicate) Thomas was given leave during late 1864.
