Candy, nuts, clothing, toys rebuilt and repaired by the Boy Scouts and a collection of dolls prepared by the Girl Scouts -- all go to fill the many baskets. Benzie Banner; 1976 ----- Researched; 1999 May P. Porter 80, of Benzonia died Sunday at the Benzie Medical Facility, Frankfort. The daughter of Adam and Matilda Long, she was born at Benzonia on April 6, 1895. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Benzonia. Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by her husband Eric in 1968; and a daughter , Olive in 1962. She is survived by two sons, David and John, both of Benzonia; a daughter Minnie Mae Moore of Grand Rapids. three brothers, William and Harvey Long both of Benzonia, and Lloyd Long of Gulliver; three sisters, Grace Priest and Ida Priest, both of Beulah, and Margaret Clark of Benzonia; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The funeral is scheduled for 2 pm. Wednesday at Bennett Funeral Home in Benzonia with the Rev. Murry Sleeper officiating. Burial will be in the Benzonia Twp. cemetery Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 - 4 pm. and 7 - 9 pm. today. Memorials may be directed to the First Congregational Church, Benzonia.
