M. Mr. Owens Bible Records: Hicks Bible in possession of Elizabeth (Hicks) Joslin [copy sent to me by Lvera Jennings Seipelt, Georgetown OH]. Loose paper in Hicks Bible states "Nancy Hicks was born October 27, 1831. Birth: Hicks Bible; consistent with 1850 census--Fra. twp., Cler., OH (p 393, #1649); age 19 (with husband) Marriage: Cler. Co., Ohio Mar. rec. (v 4, p 87) as listed in CLERMONT CO., OHIO MARRIAGE RECORDS 1800-1850, by the Cler. Co., Ohio Gen. Soc. (LDS FHL # 977.1794/ v 28 m) ("Owens" spelled "Ownes") Family: Not with parents in 1850 census; It was once thought that she had died before 1850, since no mar. was located, none was indicated in the HICKS Bible, and she did not appear with her parents in the 1850 census. However, her marriage (in 1847) was found in CLERMONT CO., OHIO MARRIAGE RECORDS, 1800-1850, by the Cler. Co., Ohio Gen. Soc. (GS # 977.1794/ v 28 m). A Nancy Owens (age 19 )was found with her husband in the 1850 census. A William F. Owens signed the mar. bond of Henry Melvin Hicks and Hannah Francis Owens. Apparently, two Hicks children married two Owens children. (The F. may stand for Francis). William F. Owens was born in KY, and also fits an age gap in the Owens family group that includes Hannah and those listed with Francis Owens in KY in the 1850 census. Census: 1850: Franklin twp, Clermont, OH (p 393; #1649) (enumerated on 18 Sep 1850) OWENS, William F. 26 M KY farmer 200; Nancy 19 F OH; James H. 2 M OH; John W. 6/12 M OH [b. abt Mar 1850] 1860: Could not find in 1860 census index for Ohio. They may have moved, say to Kentucky. References
