Birth: Hicks Bible; consistent with 1850, 1860, 1880 Cler. Co., OH; 1900 census--Maysville, Mason, KY (ED 91, sh 31, line 18), with grandson, George Jones); b. Jun 1806, MD. All cited census rec. give a MD birthplace.

Bible Records: Hicks Bible in possession of Elizabeth (Hicks) Jennings [copy sent to me by Lvera Jennings Seipelt, Georgetown OH]. Loose paper in Hicks Bible states "Nancy Melvin was born June 24, 1801.

Death: Corresp. with Orville Jones, Felicity, Ohio (mid-1970s) He is related, and has done extensive research on the Hicks. He describes the cem. as "very small, near the river and the old road."

Family: Apparently her brother is John Melvin. A John Melvin signed her marriage bond. In the 1850 census, Cler. Co., OH John Melvin (with wife Susan, 41, and dau. Margaret, 19) is listed age 44, b. MD. Also, a James Melvin, age 21, b., KY (with wife Susan age 17) is listed. James corresponds in age to a son in the 1840 Cler., OH census. Also, Rebecca died 5 Jul 1855, age 22y 3m 9d. George B. Melvin died 12 Jul 1855 (her child). (tombstone, Old Bethel cem., Clermont, Ohio.)
