William Cook was born in 1839 at Husborne Crawley in Bedfordshire, England. He was the first child of a lace maker called Mary Cook, formerly Lichfield, and her husband John Cook, an agricultural labourer, who had married earlier that year. Sadly William died as a baby, being buried at Husborne Crawley on 17th December 1839.
