Charles James Cook was born in 1842 at Husborne Crawley in Bedfordshire, England. He was the son of a lace maker named Mary Ann Cook, formerly Lichfield, and her husband John Cook, an agricultural labourer. By 1851 the family had moved to the neighbouring parish of Aspley Guise, where Charles appears in the census living with his parents and siblings. He has yet to be researched after 1851.
