Annie Lydia Cook was born in 1865 at Aspley Guise in Bedfordshire, England. She was the daughter of a lace maker and dress maker named Mary Ann Cook, formerly Lichfield, and her husband John Cook, an agricultural labourer. She appears in the 1871 census living with her parents and siblings at Station Road in Aspley Guise.

Annie died in 1879, when she was only 14 years old.
