John William Lewis was born in 1851 at Little Brickhill in Buckinghamshire, son of Sarah (Sally) Lewis, formerly Cook, and her husband Thomas Lewis, a publican. Sadly he died as a baby of just six months old, being buried on 15th September 1851. He was buried at Husborne Crawley, where his parents had lived before moving to Little Brickhill.
