Jane Maria Lewis was born in either late 1841 or early 1842, daughter of Sarah (Sally) Lewis, formerly Cook, and her husband Thomas Lewis, a pig dealer. Jane was baptised on 14th April 1843 at Husborne Crawley, although the baptism record says they lived in the neighbouring parish of Aspley Guise.

Sadly Jane died as a child of about two years old, being buried on 31st December 1843 at Husborne Crawley.
