Albert Joseph Holly

MONONA Albert Joseph Holly, son of John and Mary Lestina Holly, was born April 23, 1886, in Giard Township, near Monona. He passed away at the Postville Community Hospital on July 17, 1972, after a short illness at the age of 86 years, 2 months, and 24 days.

He attended rural schools in the Monona area. He was united in marriage to Annie Chapek on September 10, 1918. There were five children born to this marriage, Mrs. Arthur (Ellen) Voss of Monona, Kenneth Holly of Cedar Rapids, James Holly of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Bernard (Marjorie) Kliefoth of Monona, and Louis Holly of Monticello.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He farmed in this area until his retirement and then lived in Monona.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1939, four brothers and five sisters.

He leaves to remember him his children, one sister, Mrs. Rose Schroeder of Monona, and three brothers, George, Vince and Elmer, all of MOnona, and a host of other relatives and friends, including twelve grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Monona United Methodist Church on Wednesday, July 9, 1972, at 1:30 p.m. Reverend Raymond Pacholke officiated, Mrs. Ivon J. Schultz was organist, and Mrs. Helen Martin served as soloist.

Pallbearers were George Balekos Sr., Irving Schierholz, Abner Sanger, John Froning, Leo Vlazny, Donald Henkes, Sylvester Lotza and Felix Moritz.
