Funeral Service: 11:00 AM October 31, 2006 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Monona, IA Interment: October 31, 2006 at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Monona, IA Ellen Mary Voss, 95, Monona, Iowa, died Thursday, October 26, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Center, Postville, Iowa, following a brief illness. Ellen was born on March 14, 1911, in rural Monona, Iowa, to Albert and Emma (Macha) Holly. She attended country school through the eighth grade. She was united in marriage to Arthur Alvin Voss on January 20, 1931, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Monona. To this union one daughter, Edna was born. Ellen was a homemaker and helped Arthur with chores on their farm. Survivors include one daughter, Edna Schmelzer, Monona; four grandchildren, David (Denise) Schmelzer, Postville, Linda (Don) Gullickson, Monona, Darrell (Deb) Schmelzer, Ossian, Allen (Tali) Schmelzer, Azore Islands; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren and two brothers, Kenneth (Helen) Holly, Cedar Rapids and Louis (Carole) Holly, Monticello. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur, on May 1, 2002; son-in-law, Lorin Schmelzer; granddaughter, Lisa Schmelzer; great-grandson, Adam Gullickson; sister, Marjorie Kliefoth and brother, James Holly. Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, St. Patrick Catholic Church, Monona, by the Rev. Richard Gaul. Burial: church cemetery. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Leonard Funeral Home in Monona, with a Scripture service at 7 p.m., and one hour before service time Tuesday at the church.
