Vencilof Holly 1900-1974

Vencilof Holly, son of John and Mary (Lestina) Holly, was born September 12, 1900, in Giard Township, Clayton County, Iowa, and passed away at St. Francis Hospital, LaCrosse, Wisconsin, on Sunday, February 17, 1974, at the age of 73 years, 5 months and 5 days. Funeral services were held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, February 20 at the Garden City United Methodist Church, with Rev. Raymond W. Pacholke officiating. Interment was in the Monona City Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were Fred Hass, Barney Whittle, Sylvester Lotza, John Havlicek, Vernon Tayek and George Balekos Sr. Active pallbearers were Jim Nuehring, Bertie Waters, Jim Siegele, Edwin Tayek, Willis Kurdelmeyer and Everett Huff.

Vince received his education in the Beulah school. He and his brother, John Holly, farmed on the family farm and took care of their parents until they passed away. On August 24, 1946, Vince was united in marriage in Chicago, Illinois, to Alice (Owen) Franck. He worked as a farm laborer in Clayton and Allamakee Counties. They made their home in Monona, Postville and Ossian, Iowa, areas, retiring to Monona in 1970.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Frank, Joseph, Albert, John and Jake Holly; six sisters, Mrs. Mary Fibikar, Mrs. Anna Montgomery, Mrs. Kate Johnson, Mrs. Elizabeth Lestina, Mrs. Mathilda Lestina and one who died in infancy; and a step-son, Eugene Timmerman.

He leaves to mourn him his wife Alice; a step son, Milton Franck of Hazlet, New Jersey; a step daughter, Mrs. Forest (Evelyn) Kelly of Postville, Iowa; nine step grandchildren, five step great grandchildren; two brothers, George Holly and Elmer Holly and a sister, Mrs. Rose Schroeder, all of Monona, Iowa.

Vencilof Holly

MONONA, Ia. -- Vencilof Holly, 73, of 310 Depue St. died Sunday morning in St. Francis Hospital, LaCrosse, Wis.

Services will be at 10:30 am Wednesday in the Garden City United Methodist Church here, with burial in the Monona City Cemetery. Friends may call after 9 am Tuesday at the Schultz Funeral Home here.

Surviving are his wife, Alice; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Forrest (Evelyn) Kelly of Postville, Ia., a stepson, Milton Franck of Hazlett, N.J.; eight grandchildrenl four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Elmer and George Holly, and a sister, Mrs. Rose Schroeder, all of Monona.

Services Held For Vencilof Holly

Services were held at 10:30 am Wednesday, February 20 at the Garden City Methodist Church, for Vencilof Holly, who died at St. Francis Hospital in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, February 17. The Rev. Raymond W. Pacholke officiated. Interment was in the Monona City Cemetery.

Vencilof Holly, son of John and Mary Lestina Holly, was born September 12, 1900, in Giard Township and received his education in the Beulah School. Together with his brother John, he farmed and took care of his parents until their death.

August 24, 1946, he was united in marriage to Alice B. Franck. He worked as a laborer and they made their home in the Monona, Postville and Ossian areas, retiring to Monona in 1970.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Frank, Joseph, Albert, John and Jake; six sisters, Mrs. Mary Fibikar, Mrs. Kate Johnson, Mrs. Elizabeth Lestina, Mrs. Mathilda Lestina and one who died in infancy; also a stepson, Eugene Timmerman.
