George Holly Laid To Rest

George E. Holly, 81, passed away April 20, 1979, at Memorial Hospital in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Services were held at 2:00 pm Monday, April 23, at Schultz's Funeral Home in Monona. The Rev. Oliver Larkin conducted the service. Pallbearers were Telmer Olson, William Moses Jr., Ed Cordes, H. Leslie Leas, Donald Houg and Dr. Don Fields.

George Holly, the son of John and Mary Lestina Holly, was born February 14, 1898, near Beulah in Giard Township. He received his education at the Beulah School. When he turned 18, he started working with Bushing Plumbing and when Mr. Bushing moved to Sumner, Iowa, to start a new business, George accompanied him.

On September 27, 1926, Mr. Holly was united in marriage to Florence Mitchell at East Moline, Illinois. Upon returning to this area, he worked for the Houg Hardware of St. Olaf. He retired in 1963 and has been in ill health for the past 16 years.

Surviving him are his wife, Florence, his sister, Rosie Schroeder, two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Irene Holly and Mrs. Alice Enyart, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers, Frank, Joe, Jake, John, Vencilof, Elmer, Albert and an infant brother; and five sisters, Mary Fibikar, Kate Johnson, Annie Montgomery, Tillie Lestina and Lizzie Lestina.

THANK YOU: I want to thank Rev. Larkin for his prayer service and all the family, relatives and friends for the memorials, flowers and food brought in at the time of the death of my husband, George Holly.
