From the Monona (IA) Outlook Florence Holly, 96 Florence Holly of Monona died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. She was 96. Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 17, at Schultz Funeral Home in Monona. Burial was in the city cemetery. Florence was born in Monona in 1904. In 1924, Florence graduated from high school - her class being the last to graduate from Monona's old school. Florence loved to sew, as both her mother and aunt were tailors in Monona. Besides making alterations, Florence spent a lot of time crocheting and her favorite was making afghans. In 1926, Florence married George Holly. Except for a short time in Illinois, the couple spent their lives in Monona. Florence worked for many years as the manager of the Olmstead Hotel in Monona. Florence is survived by a special friend, Gaylord Trappe of Monona, and nieces and nephews.
