Florence Holly, 96

Florence Holly of Monona died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at the Good Samaritan Center in Postville. She was 96.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 17, at Schultz Funeral Home in Monona. Burial was in the city cemetery.

Florence was born in Monona in 1904. In 1924, Florence graduated from high school - her class being the last to graduate from Monona's old school.

Florence loved to sew, as both her mother and aunt were tailors in Monona. Besides making alterations, Florence spent a lot of time crocheting and her favorite was making afghans.

In 1926, Florence married George Holly. Except for a short time in Illinois, the couple spent their lives in Monona. Florence worked for many years as the manager of the Olmstead Hotel in Monona.

Florence is survived by a special friend, Gaylord Trappe of Monona, and nieces and nephews.

Pallbearer was Craig Sexton.

Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Schultz's Funeral Home, Monona, by the Rev. Dennis Gilbert. Burial: Monona City Cemetery. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time Tuesday at the funeral home. There are no immediate survivors.
