Mrs. John Holly Services Held

Mrs. John Holly, 84, died Sunday evening, March 14, at 8:10 o'clock after being in declining health for nearly three years.

As Mary Lestina, she was born July 2, 1858, in Czechoslovakia, leaving that country and coming to America when 17 years old. In 1877, she was married to John Holly. She spent her entire married life on a farm east of Monona, on which she was living at the time of her death.

Grandma Holly, as she was known to all, was a person held in high esteem by everyone who knew her for her kindness and honesty. She will be sadly missed not only by her family but by her neighbors and friends as well.

She is survived by eight sons, Frank, Joseph, Albert, John, Jake, George, Vencilof and Elmer; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Fibikar of Boone, Mrs. George Montgomery (Anna) and Mrs. William Schroeder (Rosa) of Monona and Mrs. John Johnson (Kate) of Marquette; 35 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her husband and three daughters, Mrs. Ed Lestina (Elizabeth), Mrs. Ben F. Lestina (Mathilda) and an infant daughter.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday morning, March 17, at 9:30 o'clock at St. Patrick's church, of which she was a faithful and loyal member, with Rev. Luke Donlon officiating. Burial took place in St. Wenceslaus cemetery, east of Monona. Casketbearers were her eight sons.

Relatives from out of town attending the funeral were:

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fibikar of Dows; Mr. and Mrs. John Lestina, Mrs. Lawrence Headley and Mrs. Mary Fibikar, all of Boone; Mr. and Mrs. John Montgomery of Austin, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Lestina of Ossian; George Montgomery Jr. of Dubuque; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Holly of Farmersburg; Mr. and Mrs. John Johnson of Marquette; and Mr. and Mrs. Jake Holly of Milwaukee, Wis.
