From Beverly Roberts, : "1 1994:1880 census taken June 9 (which causes questions about death date, obtained from copy of Louisa Catherine's Bible entries) in Buncombe Van Wort District 1072 by JR Smith in Polk Co, (these seem to be districts, suburbs or outlying areas of Rockmart) shows James L age 66 born Ga living with Louisa age 45 born Ga & children Thomas O age 9, Lucy J age 7, Oscar R age 3 & stepchildren Lucius S Thompson age 22 born Ga, Jefse H age 18 & Julia T age 16. US Bureau of Census Ga 1850, Puryears District, Clarke Co, taken 23 Sept by J H Christy page 63 dwelling 57 lists James L Wozencraft age 36, Sarah age 24, Laura B-8, Ida-5, Eva-3 & Diana-1; his occupation Pi--i-er, real estate value 2000.00 birthplace for all Ga. Census' prior to 1850 do not list spouses or children by name but the 1840 & 1830 census for Clarke Co Farmington District for Thomas B lists a son in the household at the correct ages for James L. Since James was married in 1841 it seems reasonable that he would have been under his father's household until 1840. James L was married in 1869 for the 2nd time to Louisa Catherine Hitchcock Thompson in Rome, Floyd Co Ga. but he is not listed in the 1870 census for that city. His diary tells us that he was a toll bridge operator there on the River Coosa beginning in 1866. He came there apparently with some assurance of the job from Rehobothville, probably in Morgan Co since he mentions both in his diary & Rehobothville is listed in Georgia Place Names as a former town near Madison where his wife's brothers lived. One wonders if the Judge Wright & Mr Wright mentioned on page 39 of the diary were related thru his mother? James L is also listed in his father's will dated 1834 but apparently probated in 1852 when he actually died at the age of 84. His whereabouts in 1870 are still to be determined.
