Early Land Acquisition in Augusta County, VA
Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:
- Vol. 3 - Page 251. - 16th May, 1761. James Lockhart to his son William Lockhart, £5, 324 acres, part of 624 [acres] conveyed to James by Beverley, 17th June, 1748; cor. to part of tract belonging to Patrick Lockhart; cor. David Campbell. Teste: James Hughes, Ranl. Lockhart. Delivered: William Lockhart, April, 1767.
- Vol. 3. Page 224. - 18th November, 1774. Philip Olinger, late of Frederick, Maryland to William Lockhart, of Fincastle County. Delivered to Jacob Olinger, 8th February 1785.
Disposition of Land from Chalkley's:
- Vol. 3. Page 58. - 18th November 1774. William Lockhart, of Fincastle County, to Philip Olinger, late of Frederick County, Maryland, conveyed by Beverley to James Lockhart, 17th June 1748, and sold by James to William, that part of said tract belonging to Patrick Lockhart. Acknowledged in Staunton in pursuance of writ adjoining the Court from Fort Dunmore.

- Vol. 3 - Page 108. - 2nd January 1759. William Lusk to James Lockhart, late sheriff, £166.13.0; mortgage of land where William lives, 200 acres, bounded by the lands of Isaac Taylor, Daniel Lyle, James McClung, in Borden's tract; also thirds of 400 acres on James River, formerly belonging to Andrew Gahagan; Wm. Lusk, James Lockhart, Robt. Breckinridge obtained a judgement in General Court for lapsed law; also third of one other tract of 400 acres on Roanoke, formerly belonging to James Burk; also obtained a like judgement in General Court. Teste: Jno. McCampbell, Wm. Tamson, Ronald and William Lockhart. Tomson (Thompson).
- Vol. 3 - Page 256. - 16th May, 1761. James Lockhart to his son Patrick Lockhart, £5, 300 acres of 624 preceding on head branch of Middle River of Shannandow; line of Meeting House land; cor. Perrry's land; cor. William Lockhart's part of said tract. Delivered: Pat. Lockhart, April, 1767.

David Campbell and Mary ( ) to James Trotter, £282.10, 234 acres, part of his old survey in Beverley Manor, conveyed to David by Beverley, 28th May, 1741, Pat. Cook's line; also 110 acres conveyed by same to David, 27th February, 1749, corner said Campbell. Teste: William Campbell, Wm. Lockhart. Delvered: Samuel Trotter, 21st October, 1772.
- Vol. 3 - Page 407. - 20th March, 1772. Patrick Lockhart and Mary, of Botetourt, to Peter and Jacob Cails, £150, part of 624 acres conveyed by Beverley to James Lockhart, 17th June, 1748; line of Meeting House land; corner Perry's land; corner William Lockhart's part of said tract. Delivered: David Cale, June 1780.
- Vol. 1 - February 20, 1787 (200) Hance Patton, William Shields, Sr., James Botkin and William Lockhart are exempted from levies.
- Vol. 2 - Vol. 2 - Joseph Switzer and Elizabeth, late Lockhart; Joseph Polk and Mary, his wife, late Lockhart; Margaret and Susanna Lockhart, coparceners ["joint heirs"] of William Lockhart, deceased, vs. Graham--O. S. 107; N. S. 36--Bill 20th July, 1804. William died after 1787. [Note: this suit appears to be brought by children of Patrick Lockhart, brother of William. More research needed].
