- Page 29.--5th April, 1787. James Bell's will, Sr., of South River--To son, Joseph, home tract, 300 acres, bounded by James Long, Jno. Bell, also an adjoining tract called Trimble's survey; to daughter, Sarah Bell, to be paid by his sons, John and Joseph; to son, John; to daughter, Agness Gamble; son, James Bell; son, Wm. Bell; son, Thomas Bell; son, Samuel Bell, and grandson, Robert Love; to sons, John and Joseph, and daughter. Sarah. Executors, sons John, Thomas, Joseph Bell, Walter Davis. Teste: David and Samuel Long, Gabriel Alexander. Proved, October Court, 1792, by all witnesses. John Bell refuses to qualify or to join in the probate. Other executors qualify. (Note: James Bell was the father of this William Bell).

John Bell's will, of South River--To brothers Thomas and Joseph, lands on South River joining Gabriel Alexander; to sister, Sarah Bell; to brother James Bell's son, Samuel, and brother William's two sons, John and Stephenson Bell, lands in Kentucky; to brother, Joseph. Executors, brothers Thomas and Joseph. Teste: Gabriel Alexander, Samuel Long. Proved, 19th September, 1797. Joseph qualifies. (Note: John Bell was the brother of this William Bell).

- William Bells Will
- In the Name of God Amen I William Bell of the County of Maury and State of Tennessee calling to mind the Mortality of my body and that it is appointed for all men once to die being in reasonable health and sound in mind I do hereby make this my last Will and Testament.
- first I Will that my body be deasantly buried and all my lawful debts paid and the remainder of my Estate to be distributed in manner following ~
- First, unto my beloved son James I give and bequeath one negro man by the name of Ase and also my Wagon and geares, two lock chains and one paid of strether my crop out __ the third part of ale__ hogs __ ones one broad __ two weeding hoes, two plows and also the handsaw Chipolls? and Aagers Tomter? and Jack Claims and the Horse beast that James claims which is his property.
- Unto my beloved son John I give and bequeath one negro man by the name of Bob.
- Unto my beloved son Thomas I give one feather bed and furniture.
- Unto my beloved daughter Florence I give and bequeath one dollar.
- Unto my beloved daughter Elizabeth I give and bequeath one negro woman by the name of Sally. And also all of the household and Kitchen furniture excepting the bed & furniture above Willed and also three milch cows such as she may choose and one horseshear such as she may make choise of.
- And the Remainder of my Estate not willed above I will that it be equally divided amongst my under named sons and daughters to wit: Thomas and Stevenson and Sterling, Polly and Sally and Dorcas, Sally and Polly being deceased I will that there [their] part to be equally divided amongst there children to wit: Starling, Cunningham, Elizabeth Lock and William Lock. And also my daughter Dorcases part I will that it be Equally divided amongst her children.
- And as there my dispute arise respecting the land where my son James now his which land is his own property I do hereby acknowledge that I have now [no] wright [right] nor part in the Land ~ and as I expect to live with my son James while I live what money I have at the present I give and bequeath unto him the said James to support and take care of me.
- And I do hereby nominate and appoint my beloved sons to Wit James and John Executors of this my last Will and Testament and this I do hereby acknowledge to be my last Will and Testament and I do hereby disowne all others that may be produced.
- In Witness whereof I have here set my hand and seale this 19 day of May 1821.
