Susannah Perry was baptised on 27th June 1790 at Eversholt in Bedfordshire, daughter of Ann Perry, formerly Alce, and her husband John Perry.
When she was 23, she married a man named James Hickinbottom. They married in Eversholt, but after their marriage they went to live in Leighton Buzzard. Susannah and James had two daughters in Leighton Buzzard: Rachel in 1814 and Elizabeth in 1815.
James died in 1816, aged only 22.
Susannah remarried two years after James's death. Her second husband was an ironmonger's labourer named Samuel Rowe, whose first wife had died the previous year. He had two children from his first marriage, including a daughter called Elizabeth. Susannah's daughter Elizabeth subsequently seems to have become known as Eliza, possibly to distinguish her from her step-sister.
Less than six months after their marriage, Susannah and Samuel had twins, George and Samuel. Back in Eversholt, Susannah's father died in 1820. Susannah and Samuel went on to have more children: Edward in 1821, John in 1822, William around 1823 and Hannah in 1825, but Hannah died in 1826, when she was only one. The following year, 1827, Susannah had another daughter, Rachel. However, the next year their son John died, aged six. In 1830 their youngest child was born, Susannah. In 1832, the family lost both the youngest daughters - Susannah in April aged two and Rachel in August aged 5.
The 1841 census finds Susannah and Samuel living at Parrotts Piece in Leighton Buzzard. By 1851, they were living at Claremont, and Susannah described herself as a lace maker. Susannah's mother died in 1844 in Eversholt. Susannah's son Edward died as a young man of 28 in 1849, predeceasing both his parents.
Samuel died in 1857. By 1861 she was living at 7 Wilkes Almshouses on North Street, which had only recently been rebuilt.[6]
Susannah died in 1864, aged 74. She had outlived both her husbands and six of her ten children.

1790 Jun 27: Susna d Jn & Ann Perry
Whilst no named connection has been found linking the adult Susannah who married James Hickinbottom in 1813 to the child Susannah baptised in 1790, the link has been made on the basis that the 1790 baptism is in the parish given by the adult Susannah as her birthplace and at the right time. No evidence has been found suggesting that the 1790 baptism relates to a different person - no alternative burial or marriage has been found that could be the person baptised in 1790. Furthermore, Susannah described herself in 1861 as a lace maker, which was also how Ann Perry described herself in the 1841. Needs to be confirmed at Bedfordshire Archives.
