Overview
This Samuel Walker settled on Moon's Creek in what was then Orange County, NC in the mid 1760's. He moved from what is now Newville, Pennsyvania with a number of associated families shortly after the French and Indian War. This connection to Pennsylvania is substantiated by a number of primary records. First, his immediate neighbor John Johnson also came from Newville, PA. John Johnson's daughters Isabella and Rachel married two of Samuel's brothers. One of these brothers, James, moved to North Carolina with Samuel. The other, Joseph Joseph, stayed in Newville. He disappears from the Pennsylvania tax records the same year as his uncle William who also settled on Hogan's Creek near Lenox Castle, suggesting a moving date around 1763. His daughter Elizabeth married Noah Cobb by 1766. [1] Finally, YDNA tests firmly match Samuel into Walker DNA Group 33, consistent with the Walker family of Newville, Pennsylvania.
He lived very close by to John Walker III of the Walkers Creek Branch of the Wigton Walker line. There appears to be a close family relationship between John and Samuel, but it the nature of this relation is not known with absolute certainty. John and Samuel may have been involved in a land transaction, and one of John's grandchildren William clearly matches to Group 33 as well. However, it is unclear whether this John is William's paternal or maternal grandfather. John may have been related genetically to Samuel, possibily an uncle. However, many other Walkers in the Wigton line actually match to another group entirely, DNA Group 8. It's also possible that one of Samuel's brothers married one of John's daughters (two unrelated Walkers married), and John is actually related to Samuel by marriage.

Samuel Walker disappears from the tax record after this point. This is the exact same year that the William Walker Sr. also disappears from the tax record. This is Person:William_Walker_(212) who also moved to the Hogan's Creek area just across the county border in what is now Rockingham County, North Carolina.

- ↑ From mary Ann: Henry and Jemima [Cobb] left CT around 1742. In 1755 they appeared on the tax rolls of Orange County, NC (Now Caswell Co. NC). Their son Noah married Samuel Walker's daughter, Elizabeth on 4 Dec 1766. We have the marriage date from a book used to write the Cobb family records. (The record was found in Bible Records of Rockingham County, North Carolina (Madison NC: The Society,1985, Volume 2; page 31,32. They make a mistake while transcribing, recording Walker as Waeher and suggesting it was the name Ware - "Elizabeth Waeher was born the 3 day of May 1749 ("Waeher" could be pronounced "Ware")". So we now know that Samuel was there by 1766.
