John was the eldest son of James Walker in Newville, Pennsylvania. He was living at the time that his father wrote his will. However, no primary records indicate he lived in the area. Some genealogies identify him with the John Walker who died in Westmoreland, Pennsylvania in 1811. While this man is a relative, he is too young to be the John of this page. He also immigrated to Pennsylvania at a much later date. Another possibility is that he took the migration down to North Carolina with his brothers, and he may be the true father of William Walker the Wyandotte.
