Overview

Often Confused With:

John Walker Likely a first cousin. Older. Immigrated to Pennsylvania at an earlier date.

In 1785, John Walker left Northern Ireland for the area near Poke Run, Washington Township, Westmoreland, Pennsylvania[1][2][3]. His YDNA matches closely (specifically YDNA Group 33) to other another group of 3 Walkers (William Walker, James Walker, Robert Walker) who immigrated in the 1730's in Cumberland, Pennsylvania. While it is not fully verified, given the close YDNA match between this man and the three others, it is likely John is a nephew to these three men. His father must have stayed back in Ireland while his close relatives took an earlier migration to America. He may have served in the Revolutionary War as a member for the militia.[4]
