Robert E. Frakes, retired grocery merchant of Steele, died January 29, 1964 after a long illness.
Born in Tell City, Indiana September 28, 1889, he died at 74 in the Hayti Hospital. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. U. S. Frakes.
Mr. Frakes served for a number of years on the City Council of Steele.
Services were at the Church of Christ in Steele on January 31, 1964, at 3:00 p.m. Bro. Mason Harris Steele and Bro. C. H. Welborn of Hayti officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery, German Funeral Home in charge.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Lurena Frakes of Steele; two sons, R. C. Frakes of Memphis and Arvie G. Frakes of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Bethel Magee, St. Louis and Mrs. Marilyn Nunnery of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, W. T. and Ollie of Steele, and Clyde of Virginia; and two sisters, Mrs. Virgie Green and Mrs. Bessie Still of Steele.
