My photocopy of Orville's birth certificate (Plankton, Aurora Co., SD) states that he was born Jan 10th, 1886 at White Lake, son of Cortes Cloyd , born at Gilboa, OH, living at White Lake, SD and Ida Catherine Motley, born Ladoga, Indiana living in White Lake.

Orville should have WWI Draft Registration data. Orville and older brother, Homer co-owned a Braught Dairy briefly, until Homer left for employment as bookkeeper with Bankers Life Insurance Co. Then Orville operated his own dairy for many years, then sold it to Iver Erickson about 1930 (now Anderson-Erikson and the largest dairy in Iowa) and continued working there for several years before retiring. Other family members have also worked at that dairy. See Death certificate, gravestone photos, obituary, and WW2 items in file. His SSDI# 482-24-9214. 1920 Census for Iowa, (vol.68, Ed 167,sheet 17, line 5 ... poor copy) Polk Co. Des Moines, E. Dean Ave. house #2630 was Braught, Orville, 33, b. Dakota; Lucy, wife 33, b. Braught (Lucy E.) trucker, living at 2200 - 40th Pl. For years I had close contact with Orville's daughter Gertie and knew all of the family fairly well when they lived in Des Moines. June 25, 2001 visit to Esther at Indianola resulted in her giving me some photos and items of her dad that she had duplicates for, including one photo of a five generation group starting with my g.g.gramma Turbett; g.gramma Ida, Orville, Gertie, and baby Billie Stouffer. D.M., IA Register obituary (with photo) in my folder for him. I made photocopy of Orville and Lucy's U.S. Price Admin. war rationing stamp registrar document that incorrectly shows Orville to be 6 ft. 9 inches tall and Lucy to weigh 180 pounds (probably closer 108 at 5'4"). National Obituary Archive.com shows Orville Braught b. 1/10/1886 d.May 1966 at Des Moines, IA.
