Facts and Events
My mother thought Harry died of heart failure 14 Jan 1957 and was buried by Ross Hollywood Mortuary in Portland, OR. He was a Methodist and worked for Electrolux Co. I am not certain why she had these details that seem to be incorrect in records. Because there are three Harry H. Braughts (son, grandson, etc.) it is easy to confuse them. Harry H. should have WWI Draft Registration data. 1920 Census for Iowa, Polk County, Des Moines Woodland St. Hs. 3109 (vol. 64 ED 78, Sheet 22, line 22?.. line # not clear). Braught, Harry H., 28 b. IA with Maude M., wife 27, b. IA; Byrdella, dau 8 b. IA; Harry H., son 6 b. IA; and (very poor copy) Counst??, Gladys, Bo (I think this is boarder), 27, b. IA. See Ancestry.com Oregon Death Index 1903-98 for Harry H. Braught, died 12 Jan 1957 at Multnomah Co., OR cert. 744. My Dad (Ralph) said that Harry and partner owned and operated the Braught and Gage Pie Company in Des Moines, IA. The 1925 Des Moines Directory shows Harry H. Braught (Braught and Gage) living at 3109 Woodland Av. About 1949 this author lived across the street from that house. I did not find Harry in the 1932 Des Moines Directory. |
