Lucy Braught parents were Rev. Wm. Francis Clark and Josephine Earp (of Wyatt Earp family). Lucy was a Morman and a walking family history, but I was too young to value her treasure in time. I need to pursue her family for possible Braught records (Gertie Redshaw shared some data from Lucy). Lucy kept G. Gramma Ida Braught at her home after G. Grampa Cortes died. I visited them there once that I recall, but again did not discuss family history with either of these uniquely knowledgable ladies. It seemed that everyone I knew referred to her as "aunt Lucy" (of course, she was my father's aunt). She was the 1st cousin once removed from the famous lawman, Wyatt Earp and maintained close contact with the Earp family in Monmouth, Warren Co., IL very late in her life. SSDI# 478-32-2355. June 25, 2001 visit with Esther Fleenor at Indianola, IA she gave to me a newspaper clipping of an article (presumed to be DM Register) about Mrs. Lucy Braught celebrates 90th Birthday (with her photo). Living at 1636 E. 14th in Des Moines it told that she flew April each year to Downy, CA to celebrate her grandson Gregg's (son of Cort Braught) birthday and a trip to visit her daughter Esther Fleenor in Kimberling, MO. That newspaper article ended with the comment that "Mr. and Mrs. Braught formerly operated the Braught Dairy for a number of years, located at 9th and Dean Ave., now Anderson-Erickson Dairy. " She was born at Ness City, KS, came to Iowa with her parents at age seven; married Oriville Braught and had 5 children; Gertrude Redshaw of Des Moines; Esther Fleenor of Kimberling City, MO s; sons Frank of Fresno, CA; Cort of Downey, CA, and Robert of Des Moines. National Obituary Archives lists Lucy Braught b. March 18, 1887 d. Jun 1982 at Des Moines, IA.
