Acquisition of Land from Chalkley's:
- Page 220 - November 21, 1745 - John Gilmore bought 500 acres on the north fork of Tees Creek -- (later known as Kerr's Creek)-- from Benjamin Borden, Sr. [Augusta County Deed Book 1, pg 220, (Note: this page is not contained in Chalkley's transcripts)]
- Page 222.--22d November, 1746. Samuel Norwood to John Gilmer, yeoman, £130; 500 acres, part of a large tract formerly Francis McCown's land and sold to Samuel by Francis. 9th April, 1746, recorded in Augusta on Tees Creek (later called Kerr's Creek). Witnesses, Robt. Erwin, John Carr, Hugh Martin. Acknowledged, 21st May. 1747.

- Page 322.--20th May, 1760. James Gilmore, eldest son and heir-at-law of John Gilmore, deceased, and Martha, to Thomas Gilmore, £5, 250 acres on Tees', alias Carr's, Creek; corner Jno. and Wm. Gilmore, part of 500 acres conveyed to John Gilmore, deceased, by Samuel Norwood. Sent to Thomas Gilmore, December, 1760.

November 21, 1745 John bought 500 acres on the north fork of Tees Creek -- later known as Kerr's Creek-- from Benjamin Borden, Sr. [Augusta Co Deed Bk 1, pg 220] On Aug 16, 1748 his sons James and John, Jr. purchased additional land [Augusta Co Deed Bk 2, p 53-55] That same year, John Sr. sold 250 acres to his son William. Gilmor, Agness, 352. Page 34.--16th May, 1758. John Gilmor, Sr., and Agness ( ) to Wm. Gilmore, yeoman, £10, 250 acres on Tees Creek in Fork of James, part of the tract John now lives on containing 500 acres. Teste: Wm. McKemey. Jno. Gilmer. Sent to Wm. Gilmore, May, 1769.

Settled in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, where they remained until 1748 when they moved to Augusta County, Virginia and settled on Kerrs Creek about seven miles northwest of the present town of Lexington, Virginia. He and his wife were killed by Indians in 1759.
