Body Is Found In Parked Car Funeral arrangements are pending at Halligan-McCabe Funeral Home for David LeRoy McCarthy, 29, of 2502 Farnam St., Davenport. Mr. McCarthy's body was found at about 6:30 a.m. today in the driver's seat of an auto parked in the 600 block of East High Street. Police said that a shotgun was found near the body, and that the man suffered a head wound. Death was attributed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Scott County medical examiner Roland Perkins. A resident of the vicinity reported hearing a gunshot about 12:30 a.m. today, but had not called the police at that time. McCarthy Services Services for David L. McCarthy, 29, of 2502 Farnam St., Davenport, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is today at Halligan-McCabe Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Mr. McCarthy was found dead in an auto parked in the 600 block of East High Street, Davenport, early Monday morning. Dr. Roland Perkins, Scott County medical examiner, said death was due to a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Mr. McCarthy had been employed at the shipping department of the Aluminum Company of America since 1964. He was born in Lamotte, Iowa. He married Donna Jaros in 1960 in Davenport. Mr. McCarthy is survived by his wife; a daughter, Tammy; and a son, Bobby, both at home; sisters, Mrs. Richard Kauter, Dubuque, and Mrs. Robert Powers and Mrs. Robert Meyers, both of Davenport, Mrs. Ralph Dodson, Pacoima, Calif., Joann Crull, Rock Island, and Mrs. Roland Boutin, La Mirada, Calif.; and brothers, John, Centerville, Iowa, and Merlin, Rock Island. |
