Mrs. McCarthy

Services for Mrs. John J. (Mercedes) McCarthy, 52, of 223 1/2 Twentieth street, Rock Island, who died Thursday in St. Anthony's hospital, will be held this morning at 8:30 in the Wheelan chapel and at 9 in St. Mary's Catholic church. The Rev. G.J. Schroeder, pastor, will officiate.

After the services, the body will be taken to the Kempter funeral home in Bellevue, Ia., and services will be held in Holy Rosary church, LaMotte, Ia., Saturday. Burial will be in the LaMotte cemetery.

Born Sept. 15, 1900, in LaMotte, she was the daughter of Margaret and John Pitts, and married John J. McCarthy in LaMotte on Nov. 28, 1923. Mrs. McCarthy attended school in LaMotte and has resided in Rock Island for ten years.

Surviving are her husband; mother, Mrs. Margaret Pitts, LaMotte; five sons, John, Robert, Allen, Myrlin, and David, all of Rock Island; six daughters, Mrs. Richard Kueter, Bellevue, Mrs. Robert Powers, Mrs. Ralph Dodson, Jo Ann, Donna, and Mary, all of Rock Island; and two brothers, Delbert Pitts, LaMotte, Roy Pitts, Dubuque, Iowa.
