Allan McCarthy

Allan N. McCarthy, 40, R.R. 1, Milan, died Monday morning in St. Anthony's Hospital after a brief illness.

Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the Wheelan Chapel, and 9 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in Rock Island Memorial Park.

Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

Mr. McCarthy had been employed as a mechanic by Dohrn Transfer Co., Rock Island, two years. Prior to that, he was employed by Iowana Farms, Bettendorf.

He was born in LaMotte, Iowa. He moved to Rock Island in 1942. He married Darlene Runge Feb. 16, 1952, in Rock Island.

He was a veteran of the Korean War.

Mr. McCarthy is survived by his wife; a daughter, Diane, at home; sisters, Mary Boutin, La Mirada, Calif., Eileen Kueter, Dubuque, Betty Powers and Donna Mayers, both of Davenport, Jacqueline Dodson, Pacoima, Calif., and Joan Crull, Rock Island; and brothers, David, Davenport, John, Centerville, Iowa, and Merlin, Rock Island.
