Merlin McCarthy

Merlin D. McCarthy, 53, of 7108 Hillandale Road, Davenport, formerly of Rock Island, died Tuesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Iowa City.

Services will be 9:30 am Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will be Monday in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.

Visitation is 4 to 9 pm Friday at Wheelan Funeral Home.

He had been a laborer with various construction firms and had been a bartender and waiter at the former Tim's Cafe, Davenport.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include sisters Mrs. Richard (Eileen) Kueter, Dubuque, Iowa; Betty Powers, Davenport; Mrs. Ralph (Jackie) Dodson and Mrs. Ronald (Mary) Boutin, both of California; and Joan Crull, Moline; and a brother, John, Centerville, Iowa.
