Benzie Banner; 1906 ---- Researched; Feb. 2002 Dec. 7,- David H. Groh, who lives about two miles east of Benzonia, met with a painful accident last Saturday while working with a corn shredder at his farm. Just before time to quit for supper the machinery became clogged underneath in some manner and Mr. Groh reached in to remove the obstruction when his mitten caught in the rolls and drew his hand in, crushing it so badly that it was found necessary to amputate it about halfway up to the elbow. Dr. Ellis was called and preformed the operation. The machine had to be taken nearly to pieces before the unfortunate man could be liberated. The accident was more than ordinarily unfortunate one owing to the fact that the injured arm was his best one, his other (the right arm) having been disabled some time previously. Mr. Groh has the sympathy of the entire neighborhood. "Pg. 8-c" Benzie Banner; 1907 ---- Researched; Jan. 2002 Jan. 24,- D. H.
