May 8; John A. Groh to Susannah Lehner, May 13, W. Waltman. Susanna Groh, Early Settler, Dies of Senility -- Came to this county as a child -- The death of Mrs Susanna Groh, a pioneer resident of DeKalb County took place at 5:30 o'clock Friday morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs Florinda Dick, 3 and a half miles northeast of Garrett. She had been sick several months from senility. Mrs Groh was born in Ohio February 6, 1841, and moved here with her parents when she was a child. Surviving are five children, Miss Martha Groh and Mrs. Dick in Richland Township, David Groh and William Groh, of Lansing, MI, and Mrs. Sarah Goetschius, of Auburn. Mrs Groh had made her home with Mrs Dick for the last twelve years. Mrs Groh also leaves one sister, Mrs Martin Shaffer, of Garrett, and three brothers, John Lehner, of Kendallville, M. N. Lehner of Kalkaska, MI, and W. L. Lehner, of Colorado. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Sixteen Church, the Rev. S. E. Slater of St. Marks Lutheran Church, Auburn, officiating. Interment was made in Sixteen Cemetery.
