JAY GROHS HONORED ON ANNIVERSARY -------------------- Mr. & Mrs Jay Groh, 301 N. Paris Ave., were honored at an open house Sunday on their silver wedding anniversary. Approximately 75 friends and relatives called on the couple during the afternoon and evening. The home was decorated with gladioli Hostesses were Mrs. Floyd Bowers, Mrs. Charles Gee, Mrs Kenneth Fellows and Mrs. Allen Groh. Mr. Groh recently returned home from Edward W. Sparrow hospital where he underwent an operation. He will be confined to his bed for several weeks. 50th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY THE GROHS ---------------- Mr. & Mrs. Jay Groh, 301 Pairs, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at the Christ Methodist Church on Aug. 24, from 3 to 6 p.m. The couple married Aug. 23, 1925 has 3 children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. OBITUARY - GROH, JAY ALLEN (SPARKY) -- 301 Paris Ave. Lansing, MI. Dec. 9,- Age 73, died Dec. 9, 1978. Born Dec. 6, 1905 in Benzie County, Michigan. Mr. Groh had been a resident of Lansing for 64 years. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club. Surviving are his wife; Mary L. ; two daughters, Mrs. Keneth (Elaine) Fellows and Mrs. James ( Marilyn) Henderson both of Lansing; one son Allen Jay Groh also of Lansing; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. 1 brother Ray Groh of Mason, 3 sisters, Mrs. Lottie Tierney of Bellevue, Mrs. Gladys Howe of Lansing, Mrs. Mary Cushion of Laingsburg, several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tues., at 2:30 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Lansing Chapel with Dr. Charles Jones of Judson Memorial Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Mon. 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Pallbearers will be; Wayne Bowers, Raymond Perry, Roger Gee, Bill Groh, Forgus Parks, Eugene Groh, Elmer Gee and Jack Gee. |
