  10. at home following four weeks of serious illness and was attributed toangina pectoris
  11. from Charles Strausbaugh, Dec 2001: "Charles Coleman Shuff was a farmer. When my mother was born they lived on a farm just west of SR 18 on Center Road (If travelling from Fostoria to Tiffin, you would turn right where we Fostorians turn left to go into Tiffin the "back way" (it turns into Miami Street)). There is an old schoolhouse on the left side of the road, and the farm was on the right side of the road directly across from the school house. They later moved to the "Good" farm on CR5 west southwest of Bascom. This is where they lived during the depression. Many, many stories about how Charles Coleman and Ida Sophia took in mento help work the farm in exchange for room and board. My mother saidt hat Ida Sophia never sent anyone away hungry. "Hoboes" would ride the nearby rails, and my mother says she thinks the hoboes marked the house somehow as a place where they could get a meal. Charles Coleman Shuff lost one of his eyes, and had a glass eye in its place. Couldn't shoot a gun very well. Couldn't (or wouldn't) drive a car, either. Even so, he ran for Seneca County Sheriff some where around 1932 or 33. He lost that one and only election"
