Facts and Events
from Charles Strausbaugh, "I mentioned that Mary Ellen Shuff never married. Mary was slightly retarded, and also suffered through polio as a child. At the time of Charles Coleman Shuff's death, Charles Coleman and Ida Sophia lived on Second Avenue in Tiffin with Mary Ellen and also my mother, Helen Marie (Shuff) Strausbaugh. At the time of Ida Sophia's death, my father, Elza Glen Strausbaugh also lived there. My father and mother became the legal guardians of Mary Ellen, and she lived with us until her death in 1976." S5 from Evelyn Graham, "Each year we would have a potluck in honor of Aunt Mary's birthday which was in September. In the early days, the potluck was held at Charles and Rachel's house at 581 East Market St. Tiffin. After a while it was moved to Meadowbrook Park in Bascom. It was held there for numerous years until it got too big for the shelter house. It was then moved to the barn at Hedges Boyer Park in Tiffin. A potluck was held for a couple years after the death of Mary and then it died for lack of interest. It was noted for a lot of good food, a lot of fried chicken and oh thos wonderful desserts. Mary was inflicted with polio when she was young and never married. She walked with a limp due to the polio."S6 References
