Roger Watson Cooper was baptised on 4th October 1876 at South Hylton in the parish of Ford, County Durham. He was the son of Elizabeth Jane Cooper, formerly Robinson, and her husband John George Cooper, a joiner. Roger appears in both the 1881 and 1891 censuses living with his parents and siblings at Ferry Boat Row in South Hylton. In 1891 he was described as a grocer's assistant.

Roger has yet to be researched after 1891.
