1865 - Baptism (at South Lopham): Robert Wallis, son of John & Mary Anne SARE, Beachamwell, born May 18, 1864.

1871 - With parents at Beechamwell St John & St Mary, Norfolk. Scholar, aged 6.

1881- Robert was an apprentice carpenter, aged 16, born at Beachamwell, Norfolk, living with his grandparents, Seth and Susan WALLIS. His cousin, Clara WALLIS, aged 10, was also living there at this time. Robert and Clara married in 1905.

1891 - Recorded as Wallace SARE, boarder in the household of Thomas Gayford, carpenter and innkeeper, Lamb Inn, Ealm Hill, Eaton, Norfolk. Carpenter, single, aged 27. Birth place recorded as Swaffam, Norfolk.

1901 - Robert Wallis' name is just given as Wallis. He is single and living with his parents at "near Chequers", Redgrave Road, South Lopham. Estate carpenter, aged 36.

1916 - Listed in Kelly's Directory as Wallis SARE, estate carpenter to the Duke of Norfolk KG, in South Lopham.

1917 - Was granted probate, with Nathan FENN, for the will of his uncle, Robert SARE. Occupation given as carpenter.

1923 - Robert's memorial inscription (from a transcription from the Women's Institute) reads: In /Loving Memory of /ROBERT WALLIS SARE /who died April 20th 1923 /Aged 58 Years /We cannot Lord Thy purpose see /But all is well that's done by Thee /(Mason: Cooley, Son).

Probate: Robert Wallis SARE of South Lopham Norfolk died 20-04-1923. Probate Norwich 22-09-1923 to Arthur William GRANT farmer and Eaton Stanley BOWHILL grocer. Effects £707/19/7d.
