Rebecca Marsh was born in New Jersey on 18 August 1794 and outlived her husband, dying on 17 December 1879 in Hamilton County, Ohio. The 1870 census shows Rebecca listed as "infirm" and living with the family of her son, John in Sycamore township of Hamilton County. A few days after Christmas in 1879, Jerome B. Conkling wrote to his cousin Pierson Cory Conkling to report the death of his mother, Rebecca (Ref. Letter dated 27 December 1879. from J.B. Conkling 78 Astor House, New York City to P.C. Conkling). Cincinnati Daily Gazette records her death as 9-January-1880 but letter of Jerome Conklin says 17 Dec 1879.
