Charles Edwin Allen was born on 22nd June 1891 at Devonport in Devon, son of Mary Ann Allen, formerly Harry, and her husband John Burridge Allen, a retired seaman. Charles was baptised when he was just over three months old on 1st October 1891, but sadly died shortly after his baptism, with his death being registered before the end of 1891.
