  • Page 322.--11th March, 1761. Robert ( ) Patterson, yeoman, to Thomas Patterson, his son, £10, 167 acres more or less in Beverley Manor, part of 331 acres conveyed to Robert by Beverley, 27th February, 1741, on Middle River; cor. that part of the tract belonging to John Patterson. Teste: William Baskian, Mathew Armstrong, David Bell. Delivered: Thomas Patterson, 24th June, 1765.

This Indenture made this 28th of June in the year of our lord eighteen hundred & two Between John & Robert Craig of the County of Hawkins & state of Tenesee [Tennessee] and Andrew Anderson their lawful Attorney of the County of Augusta & State of Virginia of the one part and the heirs of Thomas Patterson Dec'd., Viz. John Crawford (assignee of Robert Patterson & Peter Bratten & his wife Fanny) & Isabella Dixon, John Patterson, Polly Patterson, Israel Patterson, Peggy Patterson, Thomas Patterson, Betsey Patterson & Rebeckah Patterson all of Augusta County & State of Virginia of the other part, Witnesseth that the said John & Robert Craig by their lawfull attorney Andrew Anderson for and in consideration of the sum of seventy six pounds lawful money of Virginia to them in hand paid by the said Thomas Patterson Dec'd the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged. Hath given a lien release enforce & confirm unto the said John Crawford assignee of Robert Patterson & Peter Bratten & wife Isabella Dixon, John Patterson, Polly Patterson, Israel Patterson, Peggy Patterson, Thomas Patterson, Betsey & Rebeckah Patterson heirs of Thomas Patterson Dec'd. and to their heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcell of land lying & being situate in Augusta County on middle river being part of a tract of 178 acres sold by William Beverley to Robert Craig containing seventy three acres and bounded as followeth viz. Begining a white walnut on the river bank corner to Adam Wine & with his line South thirteen West twenty five poles to a __ed apple tree corner to said Wine & with the same South seventy four West one hundred & four poles to a white oak near a branch South fifty West thirty poles a red oak & spanish oak on a steep bank thence South forty six East one hundred & four poles __ three white oaks thence North forty six East one hundred & six poles to a butter wood by the river thence down the same sixty? four poles to the Beginning, together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertain[ances] To have and to hold the said Tract or persell [parcel] of Land with its appertainences unto they said heirs of Thomas Patterson dec'd there assignee & their heirs and assigns forever to the only profit & behoof of them the said heris & there assigness their heris & assigness forever & they said John & Robert Craig themselves their heirs & execturors and administrators do covenant with they said above named heirs and assigns that they said John & Robert Craig for themselves their heirs executors & administrators the said Tract or percell [parcel] of land with its appurtenances unto they above named heirs of Thomas Patterson Dec'd. and their assignee the__ heirs and assigns against the claim or claims of them the said John & Robert Craig there [their] heirs and all & every person so as whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend these presents.
