In the name of God Amen, I Robert Shanklin being very sick in Body but of perfect mind and memory blessed be god fir it do make an Order this my last will and Testament in manner and form as followeth, first I bequeath my body unto the Ground and my soul to god who gave it nothing doubting but I shall receive it again at the resurrection of the last day & I do order all my Lawfull debts to be paid and my body to be decently buried.
I bequeath unto my brother Edward's five daughters every one of them a Cow and a Calf and to Elizabeth Evans a Cow & a Calf.
I bequeath unto my Brotne[r] Thon (Thomas) my body coat and to my Brother Edward my black Jacoat and black Breeches and to his son Robert my Green Gacoat.
I do give unto my Brother Jhon (John) a little black Mear [Mare] and to my Brother Edward's two youngest sons every one of them a Year owl [old] Colt.
I bequeath unto my Brother Edward two Meares [Mares] that is a black one and a bald eagle one and unto Richard Shankland a little pied? Cow and to Jonathan Evans a year owl [old] heifer and a hear owl [old] weathere to Elizabeth Evans.
I do bequeath to my Sister Margret a Celld? Mare and her young filly.
Likewise I do bequeath unto Robert and John Shanklin Creple Mare Shear? Young filly.
I do bequeath unto my Brother John a two year old heifer and to Robert and John Edwards two sons two, two year old heifer own & each 1 year old Colt to his son John Likewise my Brother Edward as he is to pay my debts he is to lift the debts deu [due] to my Brother Edward and Likewise I do disalow all other Wills and Testaments formerly named by me.

This Last will & Testament of Robert Shanklin deced. was proved by the oaths of the Witnesses thereto and Ordered to be Recorded and on the motion of Edward Shanklin the Executor therein named who made oath According to law Certificate for Obtaining a probat thereof in due form is Granted him he haveing with Securetys entered into and Acknowledged their bond According to Law.

    Robert Shanklin, was a witness to the deeds of Thomas, Daniel and Jeremiah Harrison, when their father divided his lands amongst these sons in Delaware. (See Chapter V). For a time this Robert was the County Surveyor of Sussex. Robert, the Clerk of Augusta Parish, settled near Daniel Harrison. He came directly to the Valley from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, which borders Delaware on the east; Deed - 29th Sept., 1749, James Wood of Frederick, to Robert Shanklin of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, 300 acres of land on Muddy Creek, corner Jacob Dye[r], patented to Wood 12th January 1746. Witness - Wm. Dobbin, James Carroll, Thomas Wood, Valentine Sevier, Edward Shanklin. (Deed Book 2, p. 342).
