After the death of Rebecca Ann Lamar, her children placed an article in the Hancock County clarion, in Hawesville Kentucky, in memory of their parents which said:

We, the children wish to dedicated these lines to the memory of our beloved mother - Rebecca Ann (Lamar) Lott:

Mother and father began life's pilgrimage together when the shadows of the Civil War hung dark as a Raven's wing o'er all the land, but through war and peace, through tempest and sunshine, they strove and wrought together. 'Neath the overhanging bows of great forest trees, their first log home was erected.

There in the full flush of their young man and womanhood, they looked out upon the world and were glad. With hearts full of hopes and aspirations, they went forth gladly to meet life's duties and responsibilities. Mother singing as she spun and knit in this new home and father whistling as he sank the ax deep into poplar and oak to clear away the fields for agriculture, but today the cry of that ax has ceased and never again shall we hear that song. About eight years ago, father was laid to rest and on Thursday evening at 7 o'clock, other went to join him in their new home with its walls of jasper and its streets of gold.

In the quiet of the evening, the sunset gate swung ajar and her soul passed out. Now, that the curtain has fallen, a thousand sacred memories come trooping through the mind. The old well, the orchard, the meadow and every loved spot that childhood knew are all associated and linked with her precious memory.

Now her prayer song is answered. She has gone where winter and clouds are no more. Mother died upon the day the Savior was laid in the tomb, Friday before Easter. He led the way and where the Good Shepherd leads his sheep do not fear to follow.

Rebecca Ann (Lamar) and John Bushrod Lott were buried in the Lamar Cemetery in the Martindale Community in Hancock County.
