Will Abstract
- Will of Nicholas Welch of Bedford County, written 28 May 1768.
- Names "well Beloved Wife Mary Welch" the tract of Land I now live on with the third part of Cattle, Hogs, Horses, Mares, and all other Goods and Chattles now in my possession Excepting three Creatures that shall be hereafter named likewise of the Negroe that now is and that shall hereafter be Bought out of my Estate.
- I leave Four Bonds of £100 Currancy Each the first is due in 1768 at Christmas, the Second is due at Christmas 1769, the Third is due at Christmas 1770 and the fourth is due at Christmas 1771.. the said money with Interest arising therefrom I leave to the Executrix of this my will Either to buy a Negroes or not and the said part proportioned to my Wife to be here during her life then the same with the Increase of every Species to be Equally Shearred Between my son and Daughter Nicholas and Mary Welch to them their Heirs and Assigns forever.
- Item I give and Bequeath unto my well Beloved son Nicholas Welch a Blare horse Colt that come from my big Mare for a Riding Horse to him and his Heirs and Assigns forever Also the Tract of Land I live on After my Beloved Wife's Decease with all the Improvements Thereof is to my Son to him and his Heirs and Assigns forever if the Bonds as before is Appropiated as there Mentioned or if not. the Third part with the Increase thereof to belong to my Son and his Heirs and Assigns forever the Third part of all Negroes and Goods & Chattles Whatsoever to be my Sons or his Heirs or Assigns forever.
- item to my Well Beloved Daughter Mary Welch I give and Bequeath a Young Bay Mare that came of the same mare my sons horse did also a Tract of 163 Acres of Land laying on Craigs Creek in Augusta County to her and her Heirs forever with all the Improvements thereof also the Third part of al Goods and Chattles that now is with Improvements thereof to be hers and her and her Assigns forever with the third part of the Negroes that now is or shall be Bought with the Bonds or the Money to he hers and her Heirs and Assigns forever.
- item I give to my Beloved Son Henry Pawlin, one Cow and Calf
- As for my Honoured Father Nicholas Welch I Desire that he may be maintained While he lives with my Beloved Wife with Diet and Decent Clothing and Lodging & if he is Willing to go off & has no Creture of his own that he may have a Creature at the Expense of the Estate.
- All other Debts due to me on Bonds or Notes or on the Books or any other way whatever I Desire that they may be equally Shared as above only my wifes part after Decease to be Equally parted Between my son and Daughter or to their Heirs or Assigns.
- I Constitute make and ordain my well Beloved wife Mary Welch Sole Executrix of this my Last will and Testament and I do hereby utterly Disallow Revoake and Disannul all and every other former Testaments Wills Legacies and Bequests by me in any ways named Wills and Bequeathed Notifying and Confirming this and no Other to be my Last will & Testament.

- 18 Aug 1768 (Augusta Co, Va.) Nicholas Welsh, witness to deed, Staunton to Paulin, is dead.
