    WEBSTER, Moses, [s. Noah & Katharine], b. May 15, 1743

    The 8th child & 5th living son born to Noah & Katherine Webster is Moses born in Lebanon in 1743 and moved to Mansfield when he was a young man. He married in Mansfield CT to Elizabeth Bennett, dau of William Bennett. He and Elizabeth raised their large family there, not moving to Columbia county NY until his later years. He died at age 71yr 8mo 3da & Elizabeth died at age 78yr 1mo 4da.

    In 1788 Land records Moses & Elizabeth of Mansfield sell the property which she inherited from her father. In the Willamatic County Probate records, in 1783 he was appointed guardian of John Carpenter, a minor of Lebanon(probably the son of his sister, Submit).

    From a memoir kept by his son, Dr. Isaac Webster, of Nova Scotia, the following is taken: "Noah Webster, the father of Moses Webster, and g-f of Isaac Webster, removed from Lebanon, to Mansfield, with his family consisting of Elijah, Daniel, Abraham, Asahel, & Moses(my father) Webster, and George Webster, a next younger brother & two daughters, Submit and Rhoda. I cannot give any dates."

    Moses died in 1815 at age 71yr 8mo 3da at Hillsdale, Columbia Co.,NY. Most likely he followed one or two of his sons in moving west. Elizabeth Webster died at Chester, Meigs, OH (again, moving with one of her children) in 1825 at age 78yr 1mo 4da.

    Children of Moses & Elizabeth Webster all born in Mansfield, CT & some baptisted at 2nd Church in Mansfield are continued here in Chapter 12 p.296:
    *Dr.Isaac b.26 Jun 1766 m.Prudence Bentley, moved to Nova Scotia in 1791 to practice medicine (His Uncle Abraham, was there) He died in 1851 age 85. They had 7 children survive to adulthood. None came back to US. Resumed Chap 26 p.614.
    *Augustine b.30 Mar 1768, a farmer, moved to Columbia County in NY & m.Mary Tyler. Lived there until 1811 when moved to OH. He d.1850 age 81 in Meigs county OH. They had 14 children (7 sons): Rev. Ebenezer Tyler b.1795; Daniel Bromley b.1799; Isaac Augustine b.1801; George Kinney b.1803; Moses Augustine b.1811; Rev.Wesley b.1814; Abram Augustine b.1817. These sons are continued in Chap 26 p.616. All of these Websters stayed in Ohio. The two ministers were Methodist Episcopal preachers in the Ohio Conference.The next generation is resumed in Chap 59 p.1169.
    *Lucretia b.3 Feb 1770 m Thos.Newcomb, a farmer, moved to Syracuse & d. in Onondaga Hollow, NY.
    *Elizabeth b.14 Mar 1772, m.Jacob Raymond in 1796
    *Noah John b.9 May 1774 m. Desire Allen in 1796 and was a farmer in Hillsdale, NY
    & in 1829, they moved to Green River, NY, both in Columbia County. He served for a month in the NY Militia in 1814 and d. in 1854. He is buried in Worchester, Ostego Co., NY. They had 10 children (3 sons): Jeremiah Allen b.1802; Miron Noah b.1804 & Noble Thomas b.1809. The 3 sons are continued in Chap 26 p.622 & they stayed in New York State. Their children are continued in Chap 59.

    *Moses b.18 Jul 1787, a farmer, m.Polly Stephens, they moved from NY to OH and then to WV. He d. 1825. Had only one son, Rev.Lloyd Washington b.1823 in Kanawha Co.,WV. & he was a circuit preacher for the United Brethren in Christ for many years through out Ohio & Indiana. He m.Mary Jane Howard in IN & by 1883 was settled in Holt county, MO. The End
    *Jerusha b.17 Oct 1789 m.Gorham Newcomb in Rensselaer Co.NY. They resided in several NY counties. He served in the war of 1812. They had a large family which is continued in Chapter 26 p.622
