Elijah Webster, first child of Noah & Katherine Webster, lived and died in Lebanon, CT. He married a widow, Elizabeth Trapp at Martha's Vineyard in 1757. He died in 1767, she surviving him. From the Willimantic County Probate Records, his will dated Apr 10 1767 appointed Jedediah Strong, of Lebanon as administrator of his estate. In the inventory, no land was mentioned and in June the estate was reported insolvent. Little else in known of him.
Children of Elijah & Elizabeth, all b.Lebanon & baptised First Church. Cont'd in Chapt.12 p.287: *Eddy b.29 Jan 1758 in Lebanon & died in the Continental Army on Sep 8 1777. He had enlisted on Mar 12, 1777 for 3yrs in Cap.Paul Brigham's Co.of Col. John Chandler's 8th Regt of the CT Line. On the pay & muster rolls from Jul to Oct 1777. He was reported as 'sick in hospital' in Sep 1777. Notes from Russell's 8th CT Regt: Eddy Webster, pvt, dead. Due $29.75 The End. *Elizabeth 'Betty' b.18 Dec 1759 married Benajah Bushnell of Norwich, CT in 1774. He was the son of Richard Bushnell of Norwich and Betty Webster of Lebanon. Nothing else is known. *Ransford b.8 Dec 1763 d.14 Dec 1764 *Ransford b.5 Dec 1765 in Lebanon, he married Tryphena Vaughn in 1789 at N.Bolton (now Vernon)CT. He farmed in the area & enlisted Apr 24 1782 for 3yrs in the 4thTroop,Col.Sheldon's 2nd Light Dragoons of CT and is noted on the rolls as having pay due to Sep.1782. He is described as of Bolton CT, 5ft 9in, light complexion, light eyes & light hair. Children born at Vernon CT: Betsey; Elijah; Chauncey Dutton; Major; Daniel; Jane; Alice; Eli Harmon. Resumed in Chap 26 p.599 ++Two of Ransford's sons would make their way to Michigan. **Major b.1801, a farmer at Pittsford, Monroe Co.,NY m. Diana Crossman and they moved to Macomb County Michigan. He died at Davis in 1882 & she in Ray, both in Macomb Co. in 1890. They had 10 children in Macomb County Michigan, 4 boys (Chap 57 p.1150): Charles Henry b.1831, m. Mary King, resided in 1900 in Detroit MI; Horace Miers b.1833; Ransford Major b.1839, farmer in Macomb Co.MI., m.Alma Madison; & Hardy Eli b.1849, farmer, m.Delia Calton & resided in 1900 at Pikes Peak, Wayne Co.MI. **Eli Harmon, b.1805 married Lucy Ann Murray at Henrietta, Monroe Co.,NY. He died at Kalamazoo, MI in 1886 and is buried at Salem, Washtenaw Co.,MI. His children lived in Michigan (Chap 57p.1151) Henry Potter b.1831 lived in Grand Rapids, MI in 1900; Olive Ann b.1836 m.Thomas Lane, resided in 1900 at Salem, MI; Braton Gorton b.1842, m.Esther Hudson at Ann Arbor. A notary public, he resided in 1900 in Northville, Wayne Co.,MI; Miner Barlow b.1844, a jeweler m. Nettie Hunter & resided in 1900 on Gratiot Ave in Detroit. ++The other three of Ransfords's sons: Elijah, Chauncey Dutton & Daniel all served in the War of 1812, married & died in Monroe County NY. Their sons are continued in Chap 57, also.
